The Outstanding Undergraduate Paper Series (OUPS)

The best paper submitted for each category (Linguistics, Literature, Culture, and Senior Paper) will be awarded a gift certificate to the Bookstore. Guidelines: |

| * | All papers must be written in Spanish. |
| * | Only papers written for classes taken during the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters will be accepted. |
| * | Papers must be no shorter than 4 pages. |
| * | Submission format: Double-spaced, font point 12, 1 inch wide top, right and bottom margins, 1.5 inches left margin. |
| * | Student nomination must be supported by a recommendation from the professor/instructor of the class for which the paper was written to guarantee that it is an original piece of work. After completing the nomination form (available at the Department of Spanish & Portuguese) the student must give it to the professor along with an envelope, who must then fill in the back of this page, close the envelope and sign over the seal. |
| * | The application form must be submitted along with 3 copies of the paper as well as the recommendation form to the Department of Spanish & Portuguese (Attn: Outstanding Paper Series) 34 Folwell Hall, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, 55455. |
| * | All winners must participate in the Awards Ceremony, which will be part of the Departmental end of semester celebration to be held the last week of classes. Winners will give a brief address on the topic of their papers. |
